Â
There are 14 teams competing in the tournament this weekend.
Â
The Musketeers were successful in doubles play at the Western Michigan Invitational. Xavier went undefeated in doubles the first day and combined for eleven doubles victories.
Â
Xavier freshmen Jan Vrba and Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal combined for 12-0 in singles and doubles play. Rodriguez- Vidal and Brett Winters also combined for 8-1 in singles.
Â
Head coach Doug Matthews has been impressed with the freshman performances and wants the success to continue.
Â
"Our freshmen have made a big impact early on for us," said Matthews. "I want to see them show they can be consistently reliable from tournament to tournament."
Â
"Overall, I want to see our team compete and endure a three-day tournament," said Matthews. "I felt we were a little tired at the end of West Michigan and hope to see us finish better on Sunday."
