Musketeers stand in third place in conference, are battling for a home match in BIG EAST Championship
CINCINNATI – Xavier women's soccer (8-5-4; 4-1-2 BIG EAST) starts out a two-game road trip to close out the regular season in Queens, facing the St. John's Red Storm (7-8-1; 3-4 BIG EAST) on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 1:00 p.m. The Musketeers, who secured a BIG EAST Championship bid on Thursday evening, are competing for seeding in the conference tournament, with a chance to host on the line.

BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP |
- With the win over Seton Hall and results around the league, Xavier secured its first bid to the BIG EAST Championship, and its first post-season appearance since 2003.
- The Musketeers currently stand in third place, and are currently competing for the chance to host games.
- The six-team tournament features first round byes for the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds. The quarterfinal games will occur on Sunday, Oct. 29, with the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds hosting.
- The semi-final games will occur on Thursday, Nov. 2 and will be hosted by the No. 1 and No. 2 seeded teams.
- The BIG EAST Championship game is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 5th.

- The Red Storm enter the game at 7-8-1 overall and 3-4 in BIG EAST play, coming off back-to-back BIG EAST wins to stand in a tie for fifth place in the conference.
- SJU picked up a 2-1 win over Villanova on Thursday, Oct. 19 after topping Seton hall on Saturday, Oct. 14 to pull back into the top-six of the conference after starting league play 1-4.
- SJU's other league win came against Creighton, a 1-0 double overtime win.
- The Red Storm entered league play with a non-conference record of 4-4-1, picking up wins over Marist, Fairfield, UConn and Loyola Maryland, as well as a draw with LaSalle.
- Christina Bellero leads the Red Storm with seven goals and 17 points. Her seven goals are tied for third most in the BIG EAST

- The Red Storm earned a berth to the BIG EAST Tournament, advancing to the semifinals where SJU fell to Marquette.
- Last season in Cincinnati, the Red Storm scored three times in the second period to take a 3-0 lead into the final minute of the game. Samantha Dewey scored in the final minute of the game to set the final score at 3-1 in favor of SJU.

- Xavier moved to 8-5-4 overall and 4-1-2 in BIG EAST play with the win over Seton Hall.
- The result marks a new program-best win total since joining the BIG EAST, and brings to the program-best BIG EAST point total to 14, standing in third in the conference behind Georgetown and Butler.
- Xavier's win, combined with other results from around the league, guaranteed that the Musketeers will finish in the top six in the league standings, securing a position in the BIG EAST Championship for the first time in program history. The BIG EAST Championship appearance is the first for the program since 2003.

- Toni Bizzarro ranks third in the BIG EAST in save percentage at .840 and tied for fourth in the conference in shutouts (4).

- Xavier picked up its program-best fourth BIG EAST win on Thursday, topping Seton Hall, 2-1.
- The Musketeers took the lead in the 28th minute off a free kick from Addie Englehart to Abby O'Keefe on the far side of the box. O'Keefe used a header to pass across the box to Sydney Schembri. Schembri shot from just outside the six-yard box to the upper right corner to put the Musketeers up 1-0.
- After the Musketeers took the lead into the break, Seton Hall's Lauren Hall scored the equalizer in the 67th minute, shooting from straight on, just outside the penalty box to the left corner.
- In the 77th minute, Xavier retook the lead for good. Off a throw in, Abby O'Keefe, on the right side of the box, popped the ball over the defender to Tori Doss. Doss caught the SHU goalkeeper off the line and buried the ball for the game-winner.
- Abby O'Keefe picked up the assist on both of the Musketeers' goals, marking her first two points of her Xavier career.
- Xavier held a 11-7 advantage on shots. with five looks coming on-frame for each team. Schembri and Doss each tallied a pair of looks on frame.
- Toni Bizzarro collected four saves with one goal against. She moves to 8-5-3 on the season.
- Addie Englehart, Maddie Tierney and Carly Alfanoplayed the full 90 minutes on the Xavier backline.
