
Fitzpatrick Sets School Record for 54 Holes in Runner-Up Finish at Palmetto Intercollegiate

Musketeers finish in sixth-place as a team, rising one spot on final day of tournament
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -Â Mikayla Fitzpatrick broke Xavier's school record for 54 holes, shooting 214 (-2) for the weekend and finishing runner-up on the final day of the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Turtle Point Golf Course.
Fitzpatrick posted back-to-back rounds under par, including a final day 70 (-2) to claim her first career runner-up finish. Fitzpatrick had three top-10 finishes during the fall campaign and now has five in her XU career.
Her tournament total of 214 (-2) topped a seven-year-old record held by Audrey Fellmeth, who shot 215 (-1) at the 2010 Badger Invitational.Â
Xavier moved up one spot as a team with its best team score of the fall, jumping into sixth place with a tournament-best round of 293 (+5).
For the tournament, Fitzpatrick led the field with a 5-under score on par 5's and was third with a 1-over mark on par 4's. Her 12 birdies were third in the field and she also had one of just nine eagles at the event.
Andie Shukow finished in a tie for 18th after a final round 74, which featured a 2-under score of 34 on the front nine. The freshman was second in the field with 38 total pars over 54 holes.
Senior Grace Howie carded a 77 (+5) to finish in a tie for 42nd, while junior Mikayla Smith posted her best round of the tournament with a 72 to tie for 59th.
Freshman Amy Kucera rebounded from a tough second round to post her second score of 78 at the event, finishing in a tie for 79th.
