
Women's Golf Kicks Off Spring Season in Ball State Sunshine Invitational

PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA. — The Xavier women's golf team kicks off the 2018 spring season in the second-annual Ball State Sunshine Invitational from February 9-10 at the Dye Course at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The two-day invitational includes 54 holes of match play.
Ball State hosts IUPUI, Valparaiso, Western Carolina, Western Illinois and Xavier. The par 72, 6,010-yard tournament consists of each team playing three opponents, each match consisting of six singles matches using the USGA match play scoring.
The Musketeers' first opponent will be Valparaiso teeing-off at 8:30 a.m. ET Friday morning.

The Ball State Sunshine Invitational is the first competition for the Musketeers since Oct. 24 when Mikayla Fitzpatrick broke the school record with a score of 214 (-2) for 54 holes in a runner-up finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate.
Fitzpatrick led the team in the fall with a 75.20 scoring average over five tournaments. Freshman Andie Shukow was second on the team with a 76.33 scoring average, while junior Mikayla Smith is third on the team with a 77 scoring average.
