Xavier Swimming Closes Out Fall at USA Swimming Winter Nationals at Ohio State

CINCINNATI – Xavier Swimming closes out the Fall by sending nine Musketeers to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the USA Swimming Winter Nationals at Ohio State. Events begin Wednesday night and run through Saturday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Four Xavier men and five Xavier women posted qualifying times for the event.

WOMEN

Emily Conners, Paxtyn Drew, Caroline Gaertner and Abigail Garner will represent Xavier on the women's side, posting qualifying times in the 200 free relay, which competes on Friday, and 400 free relay, which will compete on Saturday.
Caroline Gaertner will also compete in a pair of individual events. Gaertner posted a qualifying time of 53.72 in the 100 fly to stand in the top-20 in the event going into the meet. The junior also posted a qualifying time of 54.43 in the 100 back.
Both events compete on Friday with prelim heats beginning at 9:00 a.m. and finals beginning at 5:00 p.m.

MEN

On the men's side, David Bunnell, Matthew Dyer, Enrique Hernandez, Sam Johanns and Nathan Runyon posted qualifying times for the Musketeers.
Xavier will compete in the 200 medley relay on the opening night of the event, and also in the 400 medley relay on Thursday evening.
On Friday, four Musketeers will compete in individual events on the men's side. David Bunnell will compete in the 100 fly after posting a qualifying time of 48.89.
Reigning BIG EAST champion in the breast stroke events, Matthew Dyer, will compete in the 100 breast with a qualifying time of 54.91.
Three Musketeers will take part in the 100 back, with Bunnell joining Sam Johanns and Nathan Runyon in the event.
Xavier will close out Friday by competing in the 200 free relay.
On Saturday, Runyon and Dyer will return to the pool to compete as individuals. Bunnell will take part in the 200 back, and Dyer will compete in the 200 breast to close out the individual heats for the Musketeers. Xavier's men will close out the meet by competing in the 400 free relay.
