Musketeers, Hoyas set for 2 p.m. matchup at McDonough Arena

WASHINGTON – Xavier women's basketball continues its BIG EAST road trip on Sunday, Feb. 19 at Georgetown. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. from McDonough Arena with the game being aired on the BIG EAST Digital Network.

The Musketeers (11-15, 3-12 BIG EAST) are playing their final BIG EAST road game on Sunday before closing out the regular-season at home. The Hoyas (16-9, 8-7 BIG EAST) have won seven of their last nine games.

As the regular-season comes to a close, the Hoyas have already locked up a first-round bye for the BIG EAST Tournament on March 4-7. Xavier, Butler, Providence and Seton Hall will all play in the opening round on Saturday, March 4.

• Raeshaun Gaffney scored a game-high 21 points, including 17 points in the second half.

CAREER STATS VS GEORGETOWN

• Raeshaun Gaffney has averaged 15.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in six career meeting against the Hoyas. She has added 13 assists, six steals and six 3-pointers in those games.

• Imani Partlow has added 6.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in three career games versus Georgetown. The sophomore forward has hit 60 percent (9-for-15) of her shot attempts.

LAST TIME OUT: AT VILLANOVA

• Xavier dropped a 76-71 double-overtime contest at Villanova on Friday night. The Musketeers have now played three games into overtime this season with a 0-3 record in those outings.

• Raeshaun Gaffney posted her third career double-double, scoring a team-high 16 points to go along with a career-high 12 rebounds.

• Xavier committed a season-low eight turnovers, while posting 17 assists – its fourth game of the year with 17 or more assists.

• Xavier has made 139 three-pointers this season, 31 more than its total from all of last season. The Musketeers are averaging 5.3 three pointers per game, while hitting 32.3 percent of their shots from behind the arc – ranking fifth in the BIG EAST.

FASTBREAK POINTS

• Xavier outscored Villanova in points in the paint, 38-12. The 38 points are the second-highest points in the paint this season by the Musketeers.

• Kindell Fincher made four 3-pointers at Villanova, her fourth game of the year with four or more three pointers. She finished the game with 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting.

• Marquia Turner had 14 points and a game-high seven assists against Villanova. The junior guard has posted 15 assists over her last two games.

• Raeshaun Gaffney ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in scoring (14.6 ppg) and seventh in free-throw percentage (.763). The senior guard also ranks fifth in three-point field-goal percentage (.402).

• Raeshaun Gaffney has hit 37 three-pointers this season, 23 more than she posted all of last season. She has drained 40.2 percent (37-for-92) of her shot attempts from behind the arc.

• Marquia Turner ranks fifth in the conference in assists per game (3.9), while Maddison Blackwell ranks 10th in rebounds per game (6.2).

• Xavier ranks third in the BIG EAST in field-goal percentage defense (.384), third in three-point field-goal percentage defense (.300) and fifth in scoring defense (63.6).

• Over the last two seasons, Xavier has held an opponent under 50 points 10 times.

RECORD WATCH: LEAH SCHAEFER

• Leah Schaefer has 87 career blocks to rank fifth all-time at Xavier. The forward has also pulled down 568 career rebounds, 37 rebounds shy of entering the career top-10 in the statistical category.

ABOUT THE MUSKETEERS

• The Musketeers posted a winning record last season, the 22nd winning record for Xavier since joining the NCAA Division I ranks in 1982-83.

• Xavier returns two starters in seniors Raeshaun Gaffney and Maddison Blackwell. Gaffney led the team in scoring (11.1 ppg) and rebounding (4.8) last year, while Blackwell added 9.2 points per game in BIG EAST play with a .516 field-goal percentage – the fourth highest in the conference.

• Brian Neal returns to the bench for his fourth season as head coach. Last season, he picked up his 200th career victory as a head coach. He now has a 225-97 in 11 years as a head coach.

XU BASKETBALL HISTORY

• Xavier has made nine NCAA Tournament appearances, most recently advancing to the tournament's second round in 2011.
