Baseball Falls in Series Finale at Southern Miss

Musketeers will return to action on Wednesday at Louisville
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Xavier baseball fell in a series finale at Southern Miss on Saturday, dropping game three of the weekend by a score of 10-0.
XU took game one on Friday, but came away from Saturday without a run after falling 2-0 in the first game of a doubleheader.
Xavier drops to 7-9 overall with the loss, while the Golden Eagles go to 11-4.

• Matt Fallon (1-for-4), Joe Gellenbeck (1-for-2, BB), Blaine Griffiths (1-for-2, BB), Sam Flamini (1-for-3, 3B) and Roger Danison each recorded hits for XU.
• Joe Gellenbeck reached base three times, walking, singling and getting hit by a pitch.
• Sam Flamini connected for his first career triple in the seventh, sending a ball into left center.
• The Musketeers had runners in scoring position in the first, third and seventh but could not push a run across for a second straight game.

• Senior Greg Jacknewitz (0-2) took the loss, going 2.1 innings and allowing five earned runs.
• Trey Schramm came on in relief, going 3.2 innings and surrendering two earned runs. The sophomore right struck out a career-high seven batters in his longest outing of the year.
• Sully Stadler allowed two earned runs in an inning of relief.
• Jason Hall closed out the game with a strikeout in a scoreless eighth.

• Xavier returns to the diamond on Wednesday at Noon, traveling to Louisville for a midweek matchup.
