Musketeers Fall to Miami (OH) on Wednesday Evening

Xavier returns home for a three-game series against Fairleigh Dickinson starting Friday afternoon
OXFORD, Ohio – Xavier baseball fell to the Miami RedHawks, 7-0, on Wednesday evening at Hayden Park.
The Musketeers, who are 6-2 in their last eight, dropped to 13-12 overall with the setback. The RedHawks improved to 7-16 for the season with a second straight win.
• XU was held to its second-lowest hit total of the season with just three hits, while leaving seven runners on base. It was just the third time this season the Musketeers have been held scoreless.
• Chris Givin went 1-for-4 in his return to the lineup for XU. The sophomore had missed the last 17 games with an injury.
• Connor Grammes went 1-for-2 and worked a walk, extending his streak to nine straight games reaching base.
• Grammes continues to swing a hot bat, recording a .516 (16-for-31) batting average with a homer and four RBI over his last nine games.
• Roger Danison also went 1-for-1 with a double off the bench for XU.
• Mitch Gallagher saw a streak of eight straight games reaching base snapped.
• Rylan Bannon saw a five-game hitting streak snapped in the loss.
• Trey Schramm (1-1) went three innings in his first career start for XU. He allowed six hits and four runs, while striking out four.
• Brad Kirschner came on in relief for one inning and struck out two, while surrendering a run.
• Freshman David Williams pitched a solid 1.2 innings, striking out three batters. His 1.2 innings and three strikeouts were both season-highs.
• Connor Grammes came into relieve Williams in the sixth inning and pitched for 1.2 innings. He gave up one run and struck out three batters.
• Senior Jason Hall closed out the game for the Musketeers, striking out two in the eighth.
• Xavier returns to action on Friday, March 31 playing host to Fairleigh Dickinson for game one of a three-game series at Hayden Field. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
