Musketeers Fall Short Against Florida Gulf Coast

FORT MEYERS, Fla. – Xavier women's tennis fell with a 6-1 decision Wednesday against Florida Gulf Coast.
Sophia Abelson carried the Musketeers by clinching a victory at No. 5 singles. She defeated Julianna Curtis 6-2,4-6, 6-2. At No. 1 singles, Sydney Liggins fell short with a score of 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.
In doubles play, the Musketeers came to a close victory in the No. 3 spot. Sophomore Zoe Manion and freshman Rachael Reichenbach came close to a victory but fell short with a 6-7 decision.
The Musketeers fall to 4-7 on the spring season while FCGU improves to 5-3.
Xavier faces Troy on Thursday, March 9, in Fort Meyers, Fla. Troy University is 3-8 overall on the spring season. The Trojans started the season going on a six-game losing streak, however have found recent success against USC Upstate and UAB.
