Women's Tennis Finds Success in Florida

FORT MEYERS, Fla. – Xavier women's tennis secured a 5-2 win on Thursday over the Troy Trojans to improve their record to 5-7 overall on the spring season. The Musketeers defeated the Trojans in the top four single spots and at No. 1and No. 2 doubles.
Senior Sydney Liggins won the close tie breaker match in No. 1 singles. She defeated Sanae Ohta 6-3, 2-6, 10-0. Liggins also came out on top in No. 2 doubles with partner Sophia Abelson with a 6-1 decision.
Cristina Di Lorenzo and partner Lauren Ghidotti earned their seventh win, with a score 6-1, at No.1 doubles this season. Both Di Lorenzo and Ghidotti found success in singles, both earning another victory for Xavier. Di Lorenzo finished at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 decision while Ghidotti finished at No. 3 with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Freshman Rachael Reichenbach earned her fourth victory at No. 4 singles this season with a score of 6-3, 6-1.
Abelson and Vanina Iordanova both pushed the No. 5 and No. 6 singles match to a tie-breaker, however both fell short.
The Musketeers head back to Cincinnati to start BIG EAST play against Marquette on Sunday, March 19 at 3 p.m.
