Musketeers score five in fifth, six in seventh to run away from Bulldogs late in weekend opener
Butler ace Jeff Schank, who came into the game having allowed just nine earned runs all year, had a no-hitter going into the fourth before XU started to chip away.
In the bottom of the fourth, a two out rally got the Musketeers on the board. Xavier then broke things open with a five-run fifth and a six-run seventh, scoring in double digits for the fifth time this season.
With the win, XU improves to 22-17 and 4-3 in league play. The Bulldogs dropped to 23-14 and 2-5 in the BIG EAST with the loss.
