Â
"We originally planned on taking this weekend off from competition but found the Hilltopper Relays to be an excellent opportunity for a few of the athletes. We are taking a small group to WKU and hope to have a great weekend."

Zach Polk
"Zach rarely gets an opportunity to focus solely on the long jump. With three competitors seeded over the 25' mark, he should have some excellent competition and a great opportunity to focus on hitting an NCAA first round mark. Getting Zach to first rounds is a major goal for the season and the earlier we can do that the better it sets up the rest of the season."
Russell Platt
"Much like Zach, we are aiming for Russell to hit a first round qualifying mark this weekend. We have him entered in the high jump and the 100m dash, both events in which we think he can qualify, however, if the two events end up conflicting the focus for this meet is solely on the high jump. He has had some great practices leading up to this meet and if he can focus on the little things he can clear some great heights this weekend."
Matt Bryant
"After the indoor season Matt unfortunately got sick and was out for a few weeks. This will serve as his opening meet and he has some excellent competition in both the 100m and 200m dashes to start his outdoor season."
Ben Bockoven
"Ben has been really coming on strong lately and developing a lot of confidence in his abilities. We wanted to keep the momentum up and give him an opportunity to break the 4:00 barrier in the 1500m this weekend. If he follows the race plan Coach Orner set up for him he should feel great going into the last portion of the race and will have a great chance to hit that goal."
Grant Stapleton and Jordan Shepherd
This meet will provide an opportunity for both of these guys to get in a hot 800m race. With the top seed being at a 1:50, theres no reason the race should go out slow, and a fast start should set our guys up to hopefully set some PR's."
Â
Karmen Auble
"Karmen is gearing up to compete in her first full heptathlon of the season next week at the All-Ohio Championship meet. The high jump is an event where she has the ability to score a lot of point, so we're using this weekend to sharpen her up for a big test next weekend."Â
Â
Xavier travels to California for three meets on April 13-15. The Musketeers will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 13-15), Mt. SAC Relays (April 13-15) and the Beach Invitational (April 15).
The Musketeers are coming off the Oliver Nikoloff Open where they posted six first-place finishes. All told, Xavier had 31Â top-10 finishes at the meet.
