Musketeers remain in third-place of league standings with four regular season games to go

Xavier goes to 25-25 (7-6 BIG EAST) with a seventh straight loss, while St. John's completed a three-game sweep and improved to 37-18 (11-4 BIG EAST).
XU remains in third-place in the league standings with one series to go against Georgetown. The top four teams in the BIG EAST qualify for the BIG EAST Tournament, which will be held May 25-28 in Omaha, Neb.

• Xavier returns home for its final four regular season games, hosting crosstown rival Cincinnati on Tuesday at Hayden Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
• The Musketeers then welcome Georgetown for Cincinnati for their final BIG EAST regular season series, which will begin on Thursday at Hayden Field.

• Seven different Musketeers recorded a hit for the third straight game as XU collected nine hits on the afternoon.
• Conor Grammes extended his personal hitting streak to seven games, going 2-for-3 with a double. It was his team-leading 19th multiple hit game of the season.
• Chris Givin extended his team-leading nine game hitting streak with a 1-for-3 day. The sophomore shortstop also scored a run and walked.
• Rylan Bannon produced a second straight multi-hit day, going 2-for-3 with a run and a walk. Bannon also stole his 17th base of the season.
• Blaine Griffiths went 1-for-3 with an opposite field solo homer in the sixth inning, his second longball of the season.
• Joe Gellenbeck (1-for-4), Will LaRue (1-for-4, RBI) and Roger Danison (1-for-1) also had hits for XU.

• Senior lefty Greg Jacknewitz got the start and worked three innings, surrendering five runs and striking out three.
• Senior lefty Brad Kirschner followed with one inning of relief, striking out one and allowing two earned runs and two walks.
• Sophomore righty Taylor Williams gave up four runs on five hits during a tough fifth inning.
• Freshman Conor Grammes surrendered three more in the sixth before giving way to Trey Schramm.
• Schramm and senior Jason Hall pitched back-to-back scoreless innings to close out the game. Hall struck out one in a perfect eighth.Â

FIRST INNING: Rylan Bannon started a two out rally with a single to center, stealing second base and going to third on a base hit by Joe Gellenbeck. Will LaRue then singled through the right side to score Bannon and give XU a 1-0 lead.
FIFTH INNING: Chris Givin singled up the middle with two outs, going all the way to third on a long two out double to the right field corner by Conor Grammes. Givin crossed the plate on a wild pitch, making it a 7-2 game.
SIXTH INNING: With one out, Blaine Griffiths connected with a 1-1 pitch for an opposite field solo shot -- his second of the season.
