Draw marks first result in program history against an ACC squad

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer remained undefeated at home on Sunday, playing Pittsburgh to a 1-1 draw through double overtime. Freshman Sydney Schembri scored in the first half to give the Musketeers the lead going into the final 10 minutes before the Panthers scored the equalizer. Xavier moves to 2-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 at home with the result. Pittsburgh moved to 2-0-2 on the season.

HOW THEY SCORED

34' | Xavier | After a Pitt foul, Carrie Lewis served the ball into box from the right side of the penalty box, finding Sydney Schembri in the six yard box. Schembri's header found the back of the net to put the Musketeers ahead, 1-0.

83' | Pitt | After a corner kick, Xavier goalkeeper Toni Bizzarro came out to save a shot from Pitt's Sarah Krause. The ball richocheted off the save, finding UP's Seyla Perez on the right side of the six-yard box. Perez scored on the open net to tie the game, 1-1.

NOTABLE

Sydney Schembri's goal is the second of her rookie campaign, bringing her point total the four on the season.
Carrie Lewis picked up the assist on Schembri's goal, her first as a Musketeer.
The Musketeers out-shot the Panthers 18-12, including outshooting the Panthers 4-1 in the overtime periods.
Xavier created 10 looks on-goal to just six for Pitt.
Lewis played the full 110 minutes in the midfield. Andie Kennard and Carly Alfano played full time on the backline for the Musketeers.
Toni Bizzarro collected five saves with one goal allowed, moving her record to 2-1-1 on the season.
Xavier moves to 2-1-1 overall on the season, and remains undefeated at home with a record of 2-0-1 at the XU Soccer Complex.
This is the first result against an ACC opponent in Xavier women's soccer program history.
Xavier moves to 0-3-1 all time against the Panthers.
