Women's Soccer Hosts Eastern Kentucky on Friday Night

First touch between Musketeers and Colonels set for 7 PM
CINCINNATI – Xavier women's soccer plays the third match of a four-game home stand on Friday eventing, hosting Eastern Kentucky at 7:00 p.m. at the XU Soccer Complex.
The game is the first of a pair for women's soccer over the weekend, as the Musketeers also play host to Ohio on Sunday afternoon.

- EKU comes into the match with a record of 1-2-1. The Colonels are coming off a 3-2 double overtime win over IUPUI on Sunday, Aug. 27.
- Against IUPUI, EKU took the early lead on a goal from freshman Sarah Owusu. The Jags responded with a pair to take a lead into the 75th minute when EKU's Emmi Carroll scored the equalizer. In the 108th minute Jordan Foster scored the golden goal to seal the win.
- Prior to IUPUI, Eastern Kentucky picked up a results in a 0-0 double overtime draw with UT Chattanooga. The Colonels lost in match-ups with NKU and Kentucky.
- For EKU, Carroll and Foster both lead the squad with a pair of goals scored on the season.
- Anna Hall has played in-goal for EKU in each of its matches, collecting 14 saves with seven goals against. Her GAA stands at 1.59 and she has one win and one shutout to her credit.
- Eastern Kentucky finished 2016 with a record of 13-5-1 overall and 8-2-0 in OVC play.
- The Colonels advanced to the OVC Tournament Final where EKU fell 1-0 to Southern Illinois.
- Last season the Musketeers traveled to Richmond where Xavier took home the 2-0 win. Tori Doss scored in the game winner in the 18th minute and Courtney Lankford added the insurance goal in the 69th minute.

- Xavier played Pitt to a 1-1 draw through double overtime last Sunday. After a Pitt foul in the 34th minute, Carrie Lewis served the ball from the right side of the penalty box to Sydney Schembri in front of the net. Schembri's header found the back of the net to put the Musketeers ahead, 1-0.
- The Panther's responded in the 83rd minute, and the 1-1 draw held through double overtime. The draw is the first result against an ACC team in program history.
- Schembri's goal is the second of her rookie campaign, bringing her point total the four on the season.
- Carrie Lewis picked up the assist on Schembri's goal, her first as a Musketeer.
- The Musketeers out-shot the Panthers 18-12, including outshooting the Panthers 4-1 in the overtime periods. Xavier created 10 looks on-goal to just six for Pitt.
- Lewis played the full 110 minutes in the midfield. Andie Kennard and Carly Alfano played full time on the backline for the Musketeers.
- Toni Bizzarro collected five saves with one goal allowed, moving her record to 2-1-1 on the season.
- Xavier moved to 2-1-1 overall on the season, and remained undefeated at home with a record of 2-0-1 at the XU Soccer Complex.

DEWEY NAMED TO HONOR ROLL |
- Samantha Dewey was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll by the conference office on Monday for a second-straight week. Dewey added to her team-high goals (3) and points (6) total on Friday against BSU.
- Dewey, native of Fairland, Ind., tallied a team-high six shots over the weekend, including finding the back of the net in the 28th minute for the game winner against Ball State on Friday. Redshirt-senior Tori Doss served the ball to Dewey on the breakaway and the junior forward finished from the top of the penalty box to score the only goal in the 1-0 win.
- This is Dewey's fifth time being honored on the Weekly Honor Roll and second time this season. The preseason All-Conference selection was also named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week three times.
