Caitie Baron records first goal of her Xavier career in the 2-1 win

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer bounced back from a loss on a late goal on Friday by taking the double-overtime win over Ohio on Sunday afternoon. After a scoreless first half, Xavier (3-2-1) took the lead on a Caitie Baron goal just after the break. Ohio responded with an equalizer in the final 10 minutes of regulation to for overtime. The Musketeers countered with a golden goal from Andie Kennard in the 14th minute of extra time to take the win.

HOW THEY SCORED

47' | XAVIER | Less than two minutes into the second half, an Ohio foul at the top of the box set up the free kick for Addie Englehart. The senior served the ball into the box, a look that clipped the left post, ricocheting to Caitie Baron on the right side of the six-yard box. Baron buried the header into the right corner of the net to put the Musketeers up, 1-0.

84' | OHIO | The Musketeers held the Bobcats scoreless for over 80 minutes before Allie Curry worked the ball into the box off a throw in from the left side. Curry snuck the ball into the corner for the equalizer, 1-1, that would eventually force overtime.

104' | XAVIER | In the fourth minute of the second overtime, the Musketeers set up on a free kick from the top of the box. Carrie Lewis received the ball on the right side, crossing to Andie Kennard on the left side of the six-yard box where Kennard finished to the left corner for the golden goal win.

NOTABLE

Caitie Baron's goal in the 47th minute was the first of her collegiate career. The freshman, who sat early in the season with an injury, recorded a pair of attempts on the day.
Andie Kennard's golden goal was the first of the season and second of her college career. It also goes down as the first game-winner for the junior.
Carrie Lewis' assist on the game winner is her second of the season.
Baron and Kennard's goals make them the fourth and fifth Musketeers to have scored this season. Nine Musketeers have recorded points.
Tori Doss and Sydney Schembri each recorded three shots to lead the Musketeers.
Toni Bizzarro collected six saves with one goal against, playing the full time for the Musketeers.
Carly Alfano and Addie Englehart played the full 104 minutes on the Xavier back line. Andie Kennard and Maddie Tierney each played 99 minutes for the Musketeers.
Xavier moved to 3-2-1 overall and 3-1-1 at home this season.
Xavier is 1-0-1 in overtime games in 2017.
Xavier had four shots to two for Ohio in extra time.

Xavier heads out on the road for its next match, traveling to Pittsburgh, Pa. on Friday, Sept. 8 to face Duquesne. The Musketeers and the Dukes are set to face off at 7:00 p.m.
