Men's Tennis Closes Fall Schedule with Strong Performances at Louisville Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Xavier men's tennis collected 23 wins and had a competitor advance to the consolation final in all four singles flights this weekend at the Louisville Invite, the final competition of the Fall schedule for the men.

In the A-Singles draw, Brett Winters won a pair of matches after falling in the opening round, to earn a spot in the consolation final where he fell to Marko Guzina of Ball State.

Matthew Graft and Jan Vrba both competed in the B-Draw for singles. Graft opened up play with a win over Jake Penny of Lipscomb, but fell in the second round.

Vrba opened up play with a loss to Marc Mila of Tennessee Tech, but collected three straight wins to win the consolation final over Thibault de Negri of Ball State.

Michael Lee competed in the C-Singles Draw, opening up play with a loss to Bryce Boninof Ball State. Lee also won three-straight, capped off with a win over Daniel Stormon of MTSU to win the flight's consolation final.

Oliver Weaver and Dominic Macaluso both competed in the D-Singles flight. Macaluso opened with a win over Paul LaHaue of Chattanooga, but fell in the second round. Macaluso continued play in the Red Singles Consolation draw where he picked up a win over Bo Nash of Chattanooga.

Oliver Weaver fell in his opening match of singles play, but won two straight to advance to the consolation final, where he fell to Chad Woodham of Austin Peay after the match was retired in the second set.

In doubles play, Brett Winters and Matthew Graft won the consolation final of the A-flight, picking up wins over pairs from Louisville and Tennessee Tech.

In B-Doubles, Jan Vrba and Michael Lee also won the consolation final, with wins over teams from Austin Peay and Louisville.

Oliver Weaver and Dominic Macaluso competed in the D-Finals flight, picking up a win over a pair from Bellarmine on the way to the consolation final, where they fell to a combined team from Illinois State and Bellarmine.
