Simen Hestnes Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll After Game-Winner at Seton Hall

NEW YORK - Simen Hestnes was recognized with BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll accolades on Monday after scoring the game-winner for Xavier men's soccer on Saturday at Seton Hall.
The senior midfielder struck for a goal in the 97th minute, helping XU snap a five-match losing streak in a 2-1 overtime win at SHU.Â
XU also played its way back into the postseason picture with the win, moving into a tie for sixth-place in the league standings with one regular season match to go. The top six teams in the league receive a bid into the BIG EAST Championships, which will begin next Sunday.
Hestnes now leads Xavier with 21 points for the season, scoring eight goals and adding five assists. The Oslo, Norway native leads the BIG EAST and ranks 49th in the nation with 21 points. His eight goals rank second in the conference and are 51st nationally. He has at least one point in seven of Xavier's last 11 matches.
Xavier (5-7-5, 3-4-1 BIG EAST) returns to action at home on Wednesday night, hosting Butler at 7 p.m. at XU Soccer Complex.
