
Swimming Travels to Cleveland for CSU Magnus Cup

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming travel to Cleveland to take part in the seventh annual Cleveland State University Magnus Cup. The Musketeer women will face off against 15 other squads, while the men will be one of nine teams competing during the three-day competition.

- Prelims each day are set to begin at 9:00 a.m. Finals sessions for Friday and Saturday will begin at 5:00 p.m., while Sunday's finals will begin at 3:00 p.m.Â
- An all-weekend ticket for the Magnus Cup will be $30 for adults and $20 for seniors and children. An all-day ticket will be $12 for adults and $7 for seniors or children.
- Heat sheets will be available for $2 per session.

- The top 40 swimmers will advance into A, B, C and D finals. However, only the top 20 will score in each event.

- Last season, Xavier's women finished third of 15 teams for a fourth-straight season after moving past Cleveland State on the final day.
- Xavier's women started the finals of the first day with a third place finish in the 200 free relay, with Emily Conners, Abby Garner, Tianna Vozar and Paxtyn Drew touching the wall in 1:33.93.
- Emily Conners posted the top finish by a Musketeer, placing second in the 50 free with a time of 23.39.Â
- Samantha White's time of 30.61 in the 50 breast was the fastest by a Musketeer
- Katie Kerr's time of 4:59.53 in the 500 free placed fifth place in the finals heat.
- Alison Herman led Xavier with a time of 2:06.02Â in the 200 IM.
- Xavier's women closed out the first day of the event with Paxtyn Drew, White, Caroline Gaertner and Conners posting a time of 3:48.42 in the 400 medley relay.
- Xavier's women opened Saturday's finals with Paxtyn Drew, Samantha White, Caroline Gaertner and Emily Conners posting a time of 1:44.75 in the 200 medley relay.
- Alison Herman placed eighth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:31.84. Emma Kauffeld also posted a top-10 finish in the finals heat.
- Caroline Gaertner placed fifth in the 100 fly with a time of 54.92. Taylor Hogan and Annie Cummins also finished in the top 10 during finals.
- Emily Conners posted the top qualifying time in the 200 free, 1:51.38, and placed fifth in the finals heat. Katie Kerr also posted a top-10 finish in the finals.
- Caroline Gaertner posted a time of 55.61 in the 100 back to take third. Ali Fort and Paxtyn Drew each posted a top-seven finish in the finals heat as well.
- Emma Kauffeld, Emily Conners, Abby Garner and Katie Kerr closed out the second day on the women's side with a fifth place finish in the 800 free relay.
- Emma Kauffeld's time of 17:11.00 in the mile placed sixth for the Musketeers to open finals on the final day.
- Caroline Gaertner placed second in the 50 fly with a time of 25.25. Laura Dicus and Annie Cummins also placed in the top 10.
- Emily Conners set the top time during prelims of the 100 free, 50.56, and dropped that time to 50.49 in the finals to place third.Â
- Taylor Hogan's time of 2:03.08 in the 200 fly finished eighth.
- Xavier's women closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:24.44.

- At last season's meet, Xavier finished second behind host Cleveland State for the fourth-straight year after moving past George Washington on the final day, collecting total of 1103.5 points.
- Xavier's men opened the meet by taking second in the 200 free relay, with a time of 1:23.93.
Robert Snader placed eighth in the finals of the 50 breast with a time fo 26.74 after posting the fastest time in the non-traditional event by a BIG EAST competitor this season during prelims at 26.64. - Chase Baldwin finished 10th in the finals of the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.40. Landon Clark took the top spot in the second-fastest heat with a time of 1:54.71.
- Alex Sironen, Brandon Abboud, Snader and Hernadez posted a time of 3:22.47 in the 400 medley relay to take third to close out the first night.Â
- Alex Sironen, Matthew Dyer, David Bunnell and Enrique Hernandez opened the second day with a 200 medley relay time of 1:32.07.
- Chase Baldwin led the Musketeers in the finals of the 400 IM, placing fifth with a time of 4:07.79. Bradley Jackson also posted a top-10 finish.
- David Bunnell posted a time of 49.80 to take the top spot in the second fastest heat in the 100 fly finals. Brandon Abboud finished 10th in top heat of the 100 fly
- In the 200 free, Enrique Hernandez led in three Musketeers in the top 10, followed in by Jared Ritz and Alex Wolfred.
- Matthew Dyer took third in the 100 breast with the atime of 55.97.
- Alex Sironen finished fifth in the finals of the 100 back with a time of 51.11, and was followed in by Sam Johanns in sixth place. Nathan Runyon, David Bunnell and Landon Clark posted the top three times in the second fastest heat during the finals.
- Xavier closed out the second day of the meet with a time of 6:51.05 in the 800 free relay.
- Nick Mahoney finished fifth in the mile with a time of 15:57.36.
- In the 100 IM, Matthew Dyer posted a time of 52.16 to qualify, a new program record in the non-traditional event. In the finals, Dyer placed third.
- David Bunnell finished third in the 50 fly with a time of 22.81.
- Alex Sironen's time of 1:50.83 placed fourth in the finals of the 200 back, leading in four Musketeers who finished in the top 10 in the finals. Chase Baldwin, Nathan Runyon and Nick Mahoney also competed in the top heat.Â
- Sam Johanns tied for fourth with a time of 46.46 in the 100 free.
- Matthew Dyer posted a time of 2:04.01 in the finals of the 200 breast to take third.
- Sam Johanns placed second in the 50 back with a time of 23.46. Alex Sironen, Nathan Runyon and Chase Baldwin also posted top-10 finishes.
- Landon Clark placed second with a time of 1:52.20 in the 200 fly.
- Brandon Abboud finished fourth after posting the top qualifying time in the prelims of the 200 fly. Bradley Jackson finished fifth in the finals.
- Xavier's men closed out the event with a time of 3:06.12 in the 400 free for Sam Johanns, Robert Snader, David Bunnell and Alex Sironen.

- The Musketeers were last in action two weeks ago at Denison. Xavier took the top spot in eight events on the women's side, taking the win, 140-122, over the Big Red.
- Xavier's women opened the meet with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay for Ali Fort, Lydia Schaeffer, Caroline Gaertner and Emily Conners.
- Emma Kauffeld led Xavier with third-place finish in the 1000 free. Tilly Baldwin (10:37.37) and Katie Kerr (10:59.61) took fourth and fifth, respectively, with season-best times.
- Emily Conners won the first of three events on the day in the 200 free. Emily Saugstad took second with a season-best time of 1:55.83.
- Caroline Gaertner took the first of two first-place finishes in the 100 back. Ali Fort finished third.
- Lydia Schaeffer finished fourth in the 100 breast to lead Xavier

- Emily Conners again swept the freestyle sprints for the Musketeers. Tianna Vozar placed second in the 50 free, while Emily Saugstad placed second in the 100 free with a season-best time.
- Taylor Hogan also took the top spot in the 200 back with a time of 2:04.66, the best time a Musketeer this season.
- Lydia Schaeffer led Xavier in a second event, the 200 breast, with a second place finish. Kelly Harris finished third.
- Emma Kauffeld led the Musketeers again in distance free, this time in the 500 free with a second-place finish. Tilly Baldwin and Katie Kerr set season-best times.
- Caroline Gaertner collected a second win on the day, in the 100 fly, with a time of 56.31, the best by a Musketeer this season.
- Alison Herman used a season-best time of 4:34.99 to place second in the 400 IM.
- Xavier closed the meet with a second-place finish for Tianna Vozar, Emily Saugstad, Abigail Garner and Caroline Gaertner in the 400 free relay.

- Xavier led off the meet with a season-best time in the 200 medley for Alex Sironen, Matthew Dyer, Brandon Abboud and Ben Quon to place second.
- Nick Mahoney led Xavier in the 1000 free, placing third with a time of 9:50.88, the best time by a Musketeer this season.
- Ben Quon set the best time by a Musketeer this season in the 200 free, 1:43.16, to take second.
- Alex Sironen took first in the 100 back with a time of 51.49, the best time by a Musketeer this season. Nathan Runyon took third with a season-best time of 53.32.

- Nathan Runyon set the best time by a Musketeer in the 200 back, 1:53.25, to place third. Ben Quon set a season-best time of 1:53.43 to finish fourth.
- Matthew Dyer took the win in the 200 breast with a time of 2:08.84.
- Patrick Hackett set a season-best time of 4:46.96 in the 500 free to lead the Musketeers, taking third.
- Brandon Abboud's time of 51.12 was the fastest time by a Musketeer so far this season, taking third.
- Chase Baldwin led Xavier in the 400 IM with a time of 4:15.16.
- Xavier closed the meet with a season-best time of 3:06.30 in the 400 free relay for Brandon Abboud, Sam Johanns, Ben Quon and Enrique Hernandez to place second. Abboud's split time of 46.72 is the fastest 100 free by a Musketeer this season.
