Women's Soccer Announces Fall Signing Class

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer head coach Nate Lie announced the 2018 Fall signing class, The diverse 10-person class includes four midfielders, three defenders and three forwards and has players from seven different states, including four from Ohio.

Allie Anderson
MF - Wheaton, Ill.
Â
Allie Anderson is a midfielder from Wheaton, Ill., who has experience playing for Wheaton Warrenville South High School and Team Chicago Soccer Club.
Â
In three years of varsity experience, Anderson has 21 goals and 20 assists with her senior season still to come. Last season she was named All-Conference and All-Sectional honorable mention.
Â
Anderson is the daughter of Matt and Mary Anderson. Her father played lacrosse at Western Illinois University. She has two siblings, Darby and Caitlin.

Lucy Brand
D - Greenfield, Ind.

Lucy Brand is a defender from Greenfield, Ind., who played for Greenfield-Central High School and FC Pride '01 Elite.

Brand spent four years on the varsity team at Greenfield-Central, totaling 74 points on 23 goals and 28 assists. She earned All-Conference and All-County honors each of her four seasons. During her career, she also earned All-District and All-State honors, and was named an Esmark All-American in 2018.

Brand plans to major in Biology at Xavier. She is the daughter of Elizabeth and Greg Brand, and has three siblings, Taylor, Lauren and Nate. Taylor played soccer at Evansville.

 Courtney Dwertman
F - Wilmington, N.C.

Courtney Dwertman is a forward from Wilmington, N.C., with experience playing for E.A. Laney High School and Wilmington Hammerheads club program.

In three seasons so far at E.A. Laney, Dwertman has accumulated 96 points on 33 goals and 30 assists, including a 19 goal, 19 assist junior season, with her senior season pending. During her career she has earned All MEC and All Region Honors in each season, and was named to the All-State Team in 2017 and 2018.

Dwertman plans on majoring in Biomedical Science at Xavier. She is the daughter of Cathy Dwertman and Joe Dwertman and has an older brother Trevor.

Brooke Harden
MF - Loveland, Ohio

Brooke Harden is a midfielder from Loveland, Ohio, who played for Loveland High School and Cincinnati Development Academy.

At Loveland, Harden played four years on the varsity squad, and finished her career the school record holder in matches played (87) and assists (54). She also rates in the top 10 in school records in goals scored with 30, and points scored at 114. She earned All-ECC honors in each of her seasons at Loveland and was named First Team All-State following her senior season.

Harden plans to major in Nursing. She is the daughter of Sean and Angela Harden and has five siblings, Mikhayla, Emma, Ryan, Alexis and Kyle.

Macy Harper
MF - Hamilton, Ohio
Macy Harper is a midfielder from Hamilton, Ohio who has experience playing for Badin High School and Ohio Elite ECNL.

During her career at Badin, Harper was part of the varsity team all four years, earning First Team All-GCL and All-Southwest District team honors. With Ohio Elite ECNL, she earned Ohio Valley All-Conference honors. She also played three years of varsity basketball.

Harper is the daughter of Carrie and Dude Harper. Her mother played college soccer and her father played college football, both at the University of Kentucky. She has two brothers, Cade and Zane. Cade played college football at Georgetown College.

Taylor O'Neill
D - Henderson, Nev.
Â
Taylor O'Neill is a defender from Henderson, Nev., where she played for Green Valley High School and Heat FC ECNL.
Â
In two seasons at Green Valley, she has totaled 13 goals and eight assists from the back line since joining the team, helping Green Valley reach the Class 4A state semifinals in 2017 and the Desert Region quarterfinals in 2018. She was named All-Southern Nevada for Class 4A by the coaches following the 2018 season.

Jackie Richards
F - Reading, Pa.

Jackie Richards is a forward from Reading, Pa., where she played for Exeter Township Senior High School as well as FC Revolution and Reading Rage clubs.

Richards has been a varsity starter since her freshman season, totaling 49 goals and 18 assists, leading the squad in each season since her sophomore year. She earned all-conference honors in each season, including second-team honors as a sophomore and junior years and First Team honors as a senior. She was also named the Player of the Year as a senior after leading the county in scoring, earning a spot on the All-State team.

Richards plans on majoring in Exercise Science. She is the daughter of Lesley and Bernard Richards and has a sister, Megan.

McKenna Schaefer
D - Dublin, Ohio

McKenna Schaefer is a defender from Dublin, Ohio, where she played for Dublin Coffman and Ohio Premier 99/00 ECNL.

In each of the past two years, Coffman has collected 12 wins and a 4-0-1 record in the Ohio Capital (Central) Conference. With Ohio Premier, Schaefer played in the 2015-16 Playoffs and the U14 & U18 Finals of the U15 Champions League.

She is the daughter of Rob and Annette Schaefer and has two older siblings, Jessica and Hannah. Jessica played soccer at St. John's from 2014-17.

Olivia Scheper
MF - Cincinnati, Ohio

Olivia Scheper is midfielder from Cincinnati with experience playing for Cincinnati Country Day and the Cincinnati Development Academy and Cincinnati United.

Scheper was part of the Cincinnati United Premier Gold U17 team that topped Midwest United FC on penalty kicks to claim a national championship in July 2017. Scheper took part in the US Youth Soccer National League Showcase in 2016 and id2 training camp in 2015. With Cincinnati Development Academy, Scheper has a pair of goals in 17 appearances.

Laurel Vargas

Laurel Vargas is a forward from Elmira, N.Y. where she played for Elmira Notre Dame and BC United 01 Select club.

With Elmira Notre Dame, Vargas spent five years playing on the varsity team, totaling 121 career goals. She is a four-time All-State selection, and was named Conference MVP in 2016, 2017 and 2018. She also earned Section 4 Class C Player of the Year honors in 2017. During her time with Elmira Notre Dame, the team won three sectional championships, a pair of Regional Championship and advanced to the State Final Four twice, including a Runner-up finish in 2015.

Vargas plans to major in Sports Management at Xavier. She is the daughter of Robin and Dennis Vargas and has two siblings, Mitchell and Leila.
