Krzeczowski comes to Xavier after four seasons with App State
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer head coach Katy Etelman announced the addition of Mikayla Krzeczowski to her staff as an assistant coach with goalkeeper oversight. Krzeczowski, one of the top goalkeepers in NCAA DI history, comes to Xavier from Appalachian State where she has served as part of the women's soccer staff since January 2022.
"We're thrilled to complete our staff with the addition of Mikayla Krzeczowski," said Etelman. "She's a young and hungry coach with a very impressive playing career. Mikayla is a great fit for our culture and will have oversight of our goalkeeper union. I appreciate her commitment to teach and develop players along with her drive to improve as a coach."
During her time on Aimee Haywood's staff at App State, Krzeczowski helped lead the Mountaineers to 29 wins and 22 shutouts following a third-straight season with at least seven wins and four shutouts in 2025.
In 2024 the Mountaineers posted their second consecutive seven-win season for the first time since 2015 and 2016. Krzeczowski helped lead the Mountaineers to four clean sheets on the campaign, while the offense scored 1.42 goals-per-game, the best mark for the program since 2016.
In her second season at App State, Krzeczowski helped guide the Mountaineers to a 9-6-3 record, the most overall wins since 2018. Working mostly with the goalkeepers, Krzeczowski helped the Mountaineer defense collect a program-record eight shutouts.
She helped the Mountaineers to five wins in Sun Belt play in 2022, more than doubling the Mountaineers conference win total from 2021, and six wins overall, with the App State defense posting six shutouts.
Krzeczowski started her coaching career on Haywood's staff at Queens University (Charlotte, N.C.) in 2021. Working with the goalkeepers, she helped mentor a Royals defense that allowed just 12 goals in 22 matches on their way to a second-round berth in the NCAA Division II Championships.
A highly decorated player, Krzeczowski was a four-year starter in goal for South Carolina, finishing her 89-match career with 50 clean sheets, the third-most in NCAA women's soccer history and the most in SEC history. Her career goals-against average was an SEC-record 0.45, the eighth-best in NCAA women's soccer history.
In addition to being named a 2019 All-American by the United Soccer Coaches and ESPNW, Krzeczowski was named the first SEC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2019 and was named All-SEC four times in her Gamecocks career, including three first-team honors.
She helped South Carolina win SEC regular-season championships in 2016 and 2017 and an SEC tournament championship in 2019.
Krzeczowski earned a bachelor's degree in visual communications from South Carolina and was named a Scholar All-American in 2019.
After her collegiate career, Krzeczowski played professionally during the 2021 season with FC Jumonji Ventus in Tokyo, Japan. In addition to coaching at Queens, she has also served as a youth soccer coach with the Charlotte Soccer Academy following her time in Japan.
