
Men's and Women's Swimming Stand in Third Place Headed into Final Day at CSU Magnus Cup

CLEVELANDÂ - With one day of competition remaining, Xavier's women moved up to third place and the men remained in third at the CSU Magnus Cup. The final day of competition begins tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.

 WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS |
- Xavier's women opened the second day with a third place finish for Ali Fort, Lydia Schaeffer, Caroline Gaertner and Emily Conners in the 200 medley relay, with a season-best time of 1:42.60.
- Taylor Hogan led Xavier in the finals of the 400 IM with a sixth place finish after setting a season-best time for the Musketeers of 4:26.72 in the prelims. Emma Kauffeld's touched just behind her in the A-Final in seventh place.
- Taylor Hogan set the best time this season by a Musketeer in the 100 fly, 55.50, in the prelims to earn a spot in the A-Final where she placed 10th. Caroline Gaertner set a time of 55.62, her personal best time this season, in the B-Final to take the second spot in that heat.
- Emily Conners took fifth in the 200 free after setting a time of 1:50.67, the best by a Musketeer this season, in the prelims. Ali Fort also competed in the A-Final, finishing 10th.
- Lydia Schaeffer led Xavier in the 100 breast with a sixth-place finish in a season-best time for the Musketeers of 1:04.46.
- Ali Fort's prelim time of 55.33 in the 100 back was the top time by a Musketeer this season. Caroline Gaertner led Xavier in the A-Final with a second-place finish in a time of 55.57, her best time so far this season.
- Katie Kerr, Emily Saugstad, Abigail Garner and Emily Conners set a season-best time of 7:28.30 in the 800 free to take third.
- Xavier's women moved up to third with 514 points.

 MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS |
- Sam Johanns, Matthew Dyer, David Bunnell and Alex Sironen led Xavier in the opening 200 medley relay with a season-best time of 1:30.86 to finish fourth. The B team of Chase Baldwin, Roark Lundal, Brandon Abboud, and Ben Quon finished 10th with a time of 1:33.46.
- Chase Baldwin led Xavier in the 400 IM, claiming ninth after setting a time of 4:07.49, the best by a Musketeer this season, in the prelims.
- David Bunnell's time of 49.68 in the finals of the 100 fly was the fastest by a Musketeer this season, finishing the A-Final in sixth place. Landon Clark led Xavier in the B-Final with a time of 50.26. Brandon Abboud, Nathan Runyon, Alex Sironen and Roark Lundal also competed in the B-Final.
- Ben Quon led Xavier in the A-Final of the 200 free with a time of 1:41.38, the fastest by a Musketeer this season, to take seventh. Jared Ritz also competed in the A-Final, placing ninth with a time of 1:42.25 after setting a season-best time of 1:42.09 in the prelims.
- Matthew Dyer's time of 56.39 in the 100 breast tied for fifth and was the fastest by a Musketeer so far this season. Roark Lundal and Cameron Weese competed in the B-Final, finishing 13th and 14th respectively.
- Sam Johanns led Xavier in the 100 back with a third place finish in a time of 49.85, the fastest time by a Musketeer so far this season. Nathan Runyon placed seventh with a season-best time of 50.86. David Bunnell and Nick Mahoney finished 12th and 14th respectively.
- Xavier closed out the meet by taking two of the top five spots in the 800 free relay, with Matthew Geraghty, Sam Johanns, Matthew Dyer and Patrick Hackett setting a season-best time of 6:53.25 to take fourth and Jared Ritz, Brandon Abboud, Enrique Hernandez and Ben Quon finishing fifth.
- Xavier stands in third place with 745.50 points.
