Xavier Comes Up Short in Loss to Appalachian State

RICHMOND, Ky.- Xavier men's tennis fell to Appalachian State, 4-2, in a closely contested match on Sunday.

The Musketeers were exceptional at doubles play, winning two matches and leaving the third unfinished. At No. 1 doubles, Jack Dykema and Gabriel Araujo defeated Scott Webster and Milo Bargeron, 6-4. The Connor LaFavre and Brett Winters duo defeated Ben Webster and Alex Pavkovich at No. 2 doubles, 6-4.

Gabriel Araujo was the only Musketeer to secure a single match victory at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-3. The Musketeers now fall to 0-5 on the season.

Xavier will host BIG EAST rival, Georgetown, on Friday, Feb. 23. This is the first conference match of the 2018 spring season for the Musketeers.
