PHILADELPHIA – Xavier women's tennis bounced back from its loss to Princeton on Saturday, defeating the Penn Quakers 4-3 to wrap up the weekend.
Head Coach Doug Matthews felt this match meant something, "This is a big program win. Penn is a great team and the Ivy League is a power tennis conference. I'm proud of how we have grown as a team so far, but we have high goals and we have more room to grow."
In singles, Penn took the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. Freshman Ahmeir Kyle battled but lost 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1, while senior Lauren Ghidotti took her opponent to a tiebreaker in the second set before losing 6-4, 7-6 (4) at No. 2.
