Women's 800 free relay sets new school record

GENEVA, Ohio - After opening night at 2018 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships, Xavier's men stand in a tie for third place while the women are in fifth with three full days of competition remaining.

Wednesday's night competition consisted of a pair of relays, and a diving competition in which Xavier did not field a competitor. Each team picked up a second place finish in the 200 medley relay. Xavier's women also set a new school record in the 800 free relay.

WOMEN'S DAY ONE NOTABLE

In the 800 free relay, Katie Kerr, Abigail Garner, Emma Kauffeld and Emily Saugstad broke the school record with a time of 7:25.80, topping the previous record of 7:29.81.
In the 200 medley relay, Paxtyn Drew, Becca Titterton, Caroline Gaertner and Emily Conners placed second with a time of 1:41.90.

MEN'S NOTABLE

Xavier's men opened the competition with a time of 6:40.21 in the 800 free relay for Alex Wolfred, Jared Ritz, Brandon Abboud and Enrique Hernandez.
Sam Johanns, Matthew Dyer, David Bunnell and Hernandez posted a time of 1:29.62 in the 200 medley relay to take second place.

MEET INFO

All-session tickets can be purchased for $40 for adults and $25 for seniors (65+) and children/students (7-18). The all-session tickets are good for all seven sessions, Wednesday through Saturday.

Parking will cost $5 per vehicle, per day at the championship and will be payable on each day. Single-session tickets will be available at the championship.

Single-session tickets will be available also.
