Partlow Posts Double-Double in Road Loss at St. John’s

The junior forward scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds
QUEENS, N.Y. – Junior Imani Partlow scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on Sunday afternoon as the Musketeers dropped a 70-36 BIG EAST road game at St. John's.
The Musketeers moved to 9-15 (2-11 BIG EAST), while the Red Storm improved to 14-10 (7-6 BIG EAST).
• Xavier hit three of its first four shots to take an early 8-4 lead at the 7:09 mark. St. John's responded by holding the Musketeers scoreless for the remainder of the frame, taking a 17-8 advantage. The Musketeers were limited to six points in the second quarter as the Red Storm took a 35-14 lead into the break.
• Jada Byrd led the Musketeers with six points at intermission. St. John's held a 17-15 advantage on the glass with Imani Partlow pacing Xavier with six rebounds. The junior forward added three points.
• St. John's maintained its double-figure lead in the second half, outscoring Xavier, 35-22, to win its second straight game.
• Imani Partlow posted her fourth career double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. The junior forward also led Xavier with two steals. The Musketeers held a 6-5 advantage in steals on Sunday afternoon.
• Jada Byrd added nine points on 4-for-6 shooting, while Na'Teshia Owens finished with five points and four rebounds.
• St. John's won the battle on the glass, 40-28, and posted a 17-5 advantage in points off of turnovers. The Red Storm also had two more second-chance points (11-9).
• Xavier returns to Cintas Center for its next two games, starting with a matchup against Marquette on Feb. 9. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. with the game being aired nationally on FS2.
