Â
Date:Â March 17 | 11 a.m.
Location:Â Indianapolis, Ind. | Davey Athletic Complex
Meet Schedule: bit.ly/2ph8XHW
Live Results:Â bit.ly/2HEraH0
PARTICIPATING TEAMS
Butler, Ball State, Dayton, Indiana, IUPUI, Loyola, Marian, Northern Kentucky, Taylor, Evansville, Wright State and Xavier
Â
• The Musketeers most recently competed at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Feb. 24. The Xavier men placed seventh, while the women placed eighth.
• Zachary Polk looks to add to his medal count this outdoor season as he has collected 17 during his career. He was named the BIG EAST "Men's High Point Performer of the Meet" at the outdoor championships last season.
• Xavier returns two members (Chris Taylor, Zachary Polk) of its 4x100 meter relay team that captured the program's first gold medal at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships (Xavier joined the conference in 2013).
• On the women's side, The Musketeers return All-BIG EAST performer Karmen Auble. She earned a bronze medal in the heptathlon at the outdoor championships for the second straight year.
• The women also return all-conference performer Madeline Britton. The senior placed fifth in the 10,000-meter run at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships last season and competed at the NCAA Cross Country Championships last fall.
Â
"Over the past two years, the Butler meet has really grown. They have some quality teams attending this weekend and I'm looking forward to racing outdoor again. The athletes that struggled a lot during indoor track with injury and illness are ready to get out there and prove what they can do. Â I think come Saturday afternoon we will be writing a recap that includes a few names that no one has heard of yet from our program."
Â
"On the women's side, I think we have a shot at winning a few of the distance events but it all comes down to how they handle the elements compared to their competition. Our women's mid-distance group has a lot to prove between now and the outdoor BIG EAST Championship and that all starts on Saturday."
Â
"The men's team has traditionally done very well in this meet because of our sprinters but I don't think the conditions will be great for that event group. We should have two or three guys competing for wins in the short sprints and the 800, while our longer distance guys will race down in distance in the 3,000m because Butler doesn't have a 5,000m."
Â
• Xavier will split its squads next weekend as the Musketeers will compete in three meets: Raleigh Relays (March 28 - March 31), Oliver Nikoloff Classic (March 30 - March 31) and the Florida Relays (March 30 - March 31).
