Matt Kent Leads Musketeers to 5-2 Win Over Miami (Ohio)

The junior threw a career-high eight strikeouts in 6.1 scoreless relief innings
OXFORD, Ohio - Junior Matt Kent threw a career-high eight strikeouts in 6.1 innings of relief on Saturday evening, leading the Musketeers to a 5-2 win over Miami (Ohio). Xavier moved to 2-0 in the weekend series versus the RedHawks with the finale slated for Sunday afternoon at Hayden Field for the Musketeers' home opener.
Xavier improved to 6-12 on the year, while Miami (Ohio) dropped to 11-5.

• Nate Soria went 4-for-5 at the plate in the leadoff position with one run, two doubles and a stolen base.
• Chris Givin went 4-for-5 with one run and three RBI.Â
• Ryan Altenberger (2-for-5) and Allbry Major (2-for-5) also had multi-hit games for the Musketeers. Altenberger scored two runs and Major posted an RBI.
• Xavier had seven more hits (15-8) than the RedHawks and left two more runners on base (10-8). Neither team committed an error in the contest.

• Trevor Olson made the start for Xavier, striking out three batters and allowing two runs in 2.2 innings of work. The freshman also allowed six hits and walked three batters.
• Junior Matt Kent pitched 6.1 innings of scoreless relief. The Fort Wayne, Ind., native collected a career-high eight strikeouts and only allowed two hits with one walk.
