Women's Tennis Shuts Out South Dakota, 7-0

ORLANDO, Fla. – Xavier women's tennis earns its eighth victory of the season by shutting out the South Dakota Coyotes 7-0, Friday night in Orlando. The Musketeers improve to 8-5 on the season.
Xavier came up big in singles play earning wins across the board. Freshman Ahmeir Kyle started the Musketeers off at No. 1 singles and earned a 7-5, 7-6 (0) win over the Coyotes.
Senior Lauren Ghidotti earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles. Junior Sophia Abelson gave the Musketeers a 6-4, 6-3 advantage at No. 3 singles. The senior-junior doubles duo also came up clutch in the No. 1 doubles spot where they achieved a 6-1 victory.
Sophomore Rachael Reichenbach also earned a big win at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0. Despite Reichenbach and Kyle's success at singles, the double partners fell short at the No. 2 doubles spot in a close 6-4 match.
Elizabeth Bagerbaseh also found success in singles. The senior earned a 6-0, 6-4 victory over South Dakota's Luana Stanciu. Bagerbaseh and doubles partner Zoe Manion earned a 6-3 victory for Xavier.
Kaitlin Ruether battled a close No. 6 victory. After dropping the first set 0-6, the freshman was able to bounce back to earn a 7-5 second set win. Forcing a third set, Ruether earned a 10-7 victory to put the Musketeers on top.
Xavier returns to action on Sunday, March 18 in Dayton, Ohio as they face the Dayton Flyers.
