Women's Golf Plays for BIG EAST Championship

CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – After winning the Colonel Classic, women's golf returns to links to participate in the final tournament of the 2018 spring schedule playing in the BIG EAST Championship this weekend.
For the third straight year, the 54-hole championship will be hosted at Callawassie Island Golf Club scheduled to start April 21-23. The competition is scheduled to begin each day at 8 a.m. ET.
All six BIG EAST schools that participate in women's golf will be present at the tournament -- Butler, Creighton, Georgetown, St. John's, Seton Hall and Xavier.
The Musketeers send Mikayla Fitzpatrick, Mikayla Smith, Andie Shukow, Morgan Tinsley and Grace Howie to compete in the tournament.
Xavier finished fourth last year, after a third-place finish two years ago. This year, sophomore Mikayla Fitzpatrick has led the Musketeers, who have six top-10 finishes on the season.
Fitzpatrick leads the team with a 75.23 stroke average. In last year's championship, Fitzpatrick and Mikayla Smith tied for 10th place.
The BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) will provide coverage of the final rounds on www.bigeast.com.
The BIG EAST Champion will earn an automatic bid to participate in the NCAA Championship.
