
Women's Tennis Picks Up 4-3 Win Over Seton Hall on Senior Day

Seniors Ghidotti, Bagerbaseh each pick up crucial singles win during final home match
CINCINNATI – Senior Lauren Ghidotti closed out the final home match of her college career by securing the deciding point in a crucial conference win for Xavier women's tennis over Seton Hall. On Senior Day for Ghidotti and fellow senior Elizabeth Bagerbaseh, Xavier took the 4-3 win, with two of the Musketeers' three singles points come from the honorees. Xavier moves to 12-9 overall and 5-1 in BIG EAST matches with one regular season match remaining.
Xavier took the 1-0 lead on the doubles point, coming back from a 6-2 loss for Bagerbaseh and Zoe Manion on No. 3 doubles with a 6-4 win for Rachael Reichenbach and Ahmeir Kyle in No. 2 doubles. Ghidotti and Sophia Abelson secured the win by taking No. 1 doubles, 6-4.
Xavier went ahead 2-0 after Abelson won convincingly in two sets, 6-0, 6-1, in No. 3 singles. The Musketeer lead extended to 3-0 after Bagerbaseh took No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-3.
Seton Hall would come back to tie the match up. The Pirates took No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-1 over Reichenbach, for the team's first point to cut the Xavier lead to 3-1.
SHU cut the lead to 3-2 after taking No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-4, over Kyle, and then tied it up 3-3 with a win in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-2, over Lauren Fitz-Randolph.
The deciding point came down Ghidotti in No. 2 singles. The senior took the first set 7-6 after multiple tiebreakers. In the second set, Ghidotti jumped out to a lead again, but SHU's Anicka Fajnorova kept within striking distance, behind only 6-5 after all the other matches had concluded before Ghidotti took the 7-5 win to secure the match for the Musketeers.
With the win, Ghidotti moved into sole possession of 10th place for singles wins in Xavier's all-time records with 77 through her career.
Xavier closes out the regular season on Sunday when the Musketeers travel to Chicago to face DePaul at 3:00 p.m. ET in the final match before the BIG EAST Championships.
