Xavier Travels to Milwaukee for Two BIG EAST Matches This Weekend

MILWAUKEE- Xavier men's tennis will travel to Milwaukee this weekend for a pair of BIG EAST matches. The Musketeers will face Creighton on Saturday, April 7 and Marquette on Sunday, April 8. Both matches will be played at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

The Musketeers faced Creighton and Marquette last season in the BIG EAST Tournament, where Xavier lost both matches.

Creighton is 7-8 on the season and currently on a five-match win streak. Marquette is 11-5 on the season and are coming off a 7-0 victory over Detroit Mercy.

The Musketeers are 5-12 on the season and are currently on a three-match win streak. Last match, the Musketeers secured a close conference dual match victory over BIG EAST competitor DePaul. Gabriel Araujo won at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles to secure the victory. Araujo received the BIG EAST Athlete of the Week honor for his efforts.

Xavier Head Coach, Doug Matthews, shared his thoughts on the team's recent successes and thoughts on the remainder of the season.

"Our confidence has definitely improved after winning three matches in a row," said Matthews.
"Our focus the last couple weeks has been on attitude and effort. That needs to remain constant the rest of the season," he stated. "Whether we win or lose, we need to compete to the best of our ability and leave everything we have on the court."
