Xavier Drops Series Finale at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Xavier baseball was held to just three hits in a 13-1 loss, wrapping up a weekend series at Penn State on Friday at Medlar Field.
With the loss, Xavier dropped to 17-34. Penn State improved to 13-31 and clinched the weekend series.

• Xavier returns home for the final week of its 2018 regular season schedule, beginning with a 3 p.m. game against NKU at Hayden Field on Tuesday afternoon.

• After scoring 11 runs and smashing two homers in game one of today's doubleheader, the offense dried up for the Musketeers as the team managed just three hits and four walks.
• Chris Givin doubled and scored a run, finishing the game 1-for-4.
• Nate Soria was 1-for-3 with a triple.
• Mitch Gallagher went 1-for-2 with a walk.

• Freshman Evan Miller (1-3) made the start, but lasted just 1.2 innings allowing six earned runs and striking out two.
• Sean Douaire came on in relief, tossing 1.1 innings and surrendering three earned runs with a strikeout.
• Senior righty Christian Glass finished out the game, going three innings and striking out four while allowing four earned runs.

SIXTH INNING | Chris Givin launched a one out double down the left field line, going to third on a wild pitch before a walk by Natale Monastra. Matt Warkentin batted next and reached on an error, allowing Givin to score and making it a 10-1 game.
With the loss, Xavier dropped to 17-34. Penn State improved to 13-31 and clinched the weekend series.
