Britton Set for NCAA Track and Field East Regional

CINCINNATI - Senior Madeline Britton is slated to participate in the NCAA Track and Field East Regional on Thursday, May 24. The meet is being hosted by South Florida at the USF Track and Field Stadium.

NOTABLES

• The Bay Village, Ohio, native will participate in the national semifinals for the 10,000-meter run on Thursday at 9:40 p.m. at the USF Track and Field Stadium. The event serves as one of two national semifinals (east and west regionals) as there is no preliminary race for the 10,000-meter run.

• Britton currently ranks 31st in the east region and 77th nationally in the event, posting a time of 34:28.34 at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 19. The top-12 participates in the race from the two regionals will advance to the NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 6-9.

• Britton will be competing in the NCAA East Regional for the second time in her career as she also competed in the 10,000-meter run at the event in 2016. The two-time All-BIG EAST selection also competed at the NCAA Cross Country Championships last fall.

• Britton most recently competed at the BIG EAST Track and Field Championships on May 11-12 in Geneva, Ohio. She placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 16:38.96, a new personal-best time.
