Men's Soccer Tops No. 2 Indiana in Exhibition Play

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -Â Xavier men's soccer got a big road result to unofficially begin the 2018 season, knocking off No. 2 Indiana 2-1 on Sunday night at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
No official statistics were recorded. The two squads played three 45 minute periods with the first being closed to the public.
XU got both of its goals in the first period, coming from Bryce Curran and Cameron Belle to give the squad a 2-0 lead.
Curran's goal came from close range on the left side of the box, following a failed clearance by IU. Belle's tally came off a corner kick from eight yards out on the right side of the box.
Both sides went scoreless in the second period before Joe Schmidt tallied for IU in the third period to break the shutout.
Unofficially, Indiana held an 18-9 advantage in shots while Xavier led 10-9 in corner kick opportunities.
Xavier continues its exhibition schedule on Friday, August 17 against No. 7 Michigan State. First touch is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
