Xavier Swimming Announces Roster Additions

Lydia Schaeffer, Roark Lundal and Daniel Stroh join the Musketeers
CINCINNATI - Ahead of the 2018-19 season, Xavier men's and women's swimming announced the addition of three newcomers over the spring/summer period who joined the Musketeers this fall. Lydia Schaeffer is the third newcomer on the women's side and Roark Lundal and Daniel Stroh join a four-person early signing class to round out the men's freshman class.Â

Lydia Schaeffer
Granger, Ind.

Schaeffer, who specializes in breaststroke and IM, swam four years of varsity at Saint Joseph High School and was part of the squad that placed eighth at the IHSAA Girls State Championship in 2018. Schaeffer placed ninth in the 100 breast at the event with a personal-best time of 1:04.67.

In the 2018 sectionals, the first sectionals win for the team since 2002, Schaeffer also set a personal best in the 200 IM, 2:09.20. Schaeffer swam club with the Michiana Stars Swimming through high school

Schaeffer is an Exploratory major at Xavier. She is the daughter of Darin and Lisa Schaeffer. Her father played baseball at Valparaiso. Schaeffer also has a brother, Blake.     Â

Roark Lundal
Madison, Wis.
Â
Roark Lundal was a four-year member of the varsity team at James Madison Memorial High School and also part of the Badger Aquatic Club. Heal swims sprint freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke.

Lundal, team captain and MVP in 2018, Lundal finished in the top 10 in four events, the 50 free (8th place), the 100 fly (8th place), the 200 free relay (5th place) and the 200 medley relay (2nd place) at 2018 WIAA State swim meet. He's part of the 200 free relay which holds the Wisconsin 2018 State age group record for USA Swimming.

In 2017, Lundal was part of the team which finished runner-up at 2017 WIAA Division 1 state meet.

Lundal was also a member of the varsity volleyball team, a member of the National Honor Society and was class Vice President in both his junior and senior years.

Lundal plans on majoring in Business at Xavier. He is the son of Dave and Alicia Lundal and has a sister, Haley, and a brother, Cooper.

Daniel Stroh
Cincinnati, Ohio
Â
Daniel Stroh is a sprint and mid-distance freestyle specialist who was a four-year member of the varsity squad at St. Xavier High School where he was part of four team state championships.

At St. X, Stroh was a three-time GCL First Team selection. He set personal best times of 47.60 in the 100 free, 1:42.96 in the 200 free and 4:43.70 in the 500 free this spring. Stroh also competed for the Cincinnati Marlins swim club.

Stroh is studying Business at Xavier. He is the son of Mike Stroh and Debbie Stroh, both graduates of Xavier University. Mike was a four-year member of the Xavier swim program (1988-92). Stroh has two brothers, Matthew and Nicholas, Matthew is also a Xavier student. His grandfather, Roger Stroh, is a 1963 Xavier graduate.
