Men's Soccer Moves Unbeaten Streak to Five in 0-0 Draw Against No. 3/6 Kentucky

The Musketeers moved to 7-2-2 against Top 10 opponents since 2010
CINCINNATI – Xavier men's soccer moved its season-opening unbeaten streak to five with a thrilling 0-0 draw against No. 3/6 Kentucky on Tuesday night at Xavier Soccer Complex.
The Musketeers had outshot the Wildcats 19-11 and had a ball cleared off the line in double overtime, coming up just short of another statement win against a Top 10 opponent. XU is now 7-2-2 against the United Soccer Coaches Top 10 since 2010.
It was the fourth shutout in five matches for Xavier as redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Zachary Nelson came up with a several big saves to keep UK off the board.
Overall, the draw moved XU to 2-0-3 on the season. Kentucky went to 4-0-1 with the result.

• XU is outshooting its opposition 90-44 this season. XU also holds a 32-17 edge in shots on goal.
• After allowing its first goal of the season last Friday, Xavier picked back up defensively with another shutout -- its fourth in five matches.
• Redshirt sophomore Zachary Nelson tied a career-high with six saves in the match, coming up with several big plays down the stretch to keep UK off the scoreboard. Nelson now has a 0.20 GAA on the year and four clean sheets in five outings.
• Head coach Andy Fleming moved to 94-48-27 since taking over at Xavier and is remains six wins from 100 in his career.
• Kentucky leads the all-time series 7-3-2, but XU is now 2-1-2 against the Wildcats under Fleming.
