Musketeers Top Eastern Kentucky in Three Sets on Friday Night

Meredith Klare posted a team-high 17 digs on Friday night
CINCINNATIÂ - Xavier volleyball picked up a three set win (25-23, 25-16, 25-17) over Eastern Kentucky on Friday night. The Musketeers moved to 2-8, while the Colonels dropped to 1-10.
The Musketeers continue Queen City Classic action on Saturday, Sept. 15 at crosstown rival Cincinnati at 4:30 p.m. The match is being played at St. Ursula Academy as Fifth Third Arena is under renovation.

• Senior Meredith Klare posted a team-high 17 digs with one assist and one ace. The libero is now two digs away from moving into third place all-time at Xavier in career digs.
• Sophomore Nadia Dieudonne recorded a team-high 21 assists to go along with two digs and one assist. Senior setter McKena Estes added 13 assists and three digs.
• Senior Laura Grossman led the team in kills with nine. The outside hitter finished the day with a team-high 2.83 kills per set, while ranking second in digs (3.00 d/s).
• Morgan Finn, Moriah Hopkins and Kelly Franxman all added six kills. Mackenzie Mangette and Jayda Carlton both chipped in five.
• Xavier had three more total team blocks (7-4) than Eastern Kentucky. Jayda Carlton paced the Musketeers with seven blocks (one solo, six assist). The freshman middle blocker finished the day averaging 1.83 blocks per set.
• The Musketeers also had two more aces (4-2) than the Colonels.Â
