Redshirt sophomore stopped career-high 10 shots in double OT draw against St. John's on Friday

NEW YORK - Zachary Nelson was recognized by the league for the third time this season, earning BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll honors after a career-high 10 save effort in a double overtime draw against St. John's last Friday.

The Musketeers played to a 1-1 tie in their 2018 BIG EAST home opener and moved their unbeaten streak to seven straight to start the season behind another strong match from Nelson.

The 10 saves were a career-high for the redshirt sophomore, who faced 16 shots and moved his record to 3-0-4 in goal this season to go with a 0.56 goals against average.

Nelson has made 23 saves in XU's last three matches after being forced into action just eight times in the team's first four outings.

For the season, Nelson leads the BIG EAST with an .886 save percentage and is second in GAA (0.56) as well as saves per match (4.43).

Xavier (3-0-4) returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Notre Dame for a 7 p.m. match in South Bend, Ind.
