Xavier moved to 2-1 in BIG EAST play

CINCINNATI - Audrey Adams and Morgan Finn combined for 22 kills on Friday night, leading the Xavier volleyball team to a three-set win (26-24, 25-20, 25-16) over Providence. The Musketeers moved to 4-10 overall and 2-1 in BIG EAST action, while the Friars dropped to 7-7 (1-2 BIG EAST).

Xavier continues its BIG EAST homestand on Saturday night against No. 10 Creighton. The Bluejays (11-4, 3-0 BIG EAST) defeated Butler in five sets (25-19, 24-26, 28-30, 25-18, 15-11) at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Friday night.

NOTABLES

• Sophomore Audrey Adams posted a team-high 11 kills on Friday night to go along with a .917 hitting percentage. The middle blocker added three block assists.

• Senior Morgan Finn also had a team and season-high 11 kills. The outside hitter posted a .455 hitting percentage to go along with two digs and one assist.

• Senior Laura Grossman posted seven kills and a match-high 17 digs. Classmate Meredith Klare added 16 digs, increasing her career total to 1,675 - 53 digs shy of moving into second place all-time at Xavier.

• Senior setter McKena Estes posted a team-high 21 assists to go along with four digs. Sophomore setter Nadia Dieudonne added 15 assists and 10 digs, her second double-double of the year.

• Xavier had one more ace (3-2) than Providence. Both teams had three total team blocks in the match.

UP NEXT

• The Musketeers continue BIG EAST action on Saturday, Sept. 29 against No. 10 Creighton. First serve is slated for 5 p.m. from Cintas Center.
