Musketeers Travel to ITA Ohio Valley Regional

CINCINNATI – Xavier women's tennis closes out their fall invitational schedule on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships, hosted by Middle Tennessee State University. Competition will start Thursday and will continue through Monday, Oct. 21.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association hosts tennis tournaments in twelve different regions around the country. These tournaments feature top women's collegiate players from across the country. Last season, Xavier ended the event with 20 singles wins, the B-Flight Championship, and a quarterfinal appearance in the main draw.
In last year's event, Lauren Fitz-Randolph collected five singles victories on her way to winning the B-Flight Championship. Emily Thomas advanced to the quarterfinals in the 128-person main draw and collected three singles wins.
Tournament play will consist of two flights in both singles and doubles competition. For singles, Division I will consist of 128 singles players from various schools and Flight B includes 64 players. In doubles play, Division I will be comprised of 64 teams, while Flight B will be made up of 32 teams. Some of the Division I teams competing this weekend include Austin Peay, Ball State, Belmont, UT-Chattanooga, Indiana, Miami (OH), Purdue, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Memphis, Louisville and Tennessee.
