CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis returns to action Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional Tournament. The Musketeers will close out their fall season in the annual tournament hosted by Vanderbilt University and will look to build momentum moving into the spring slate. Play will begin on Thursday, Oct. 24 and is set to conclude on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
The intercollegiate Tennis Association hosts tournaments in twelve different regions. This year, the Ohio Valley Region will compete at Vanderbilt University's Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Xavier had four athletes compete in the ITA Regionals last year: Jack Dykema, Matthew Graft, Connor LaFavre and Brett Winters.
Dykema and Winters both picked up three wins on the weekend last Fall, two of which came from the 128-person main draw of singles action. The duo then paired up for a doubles victory over Northern Kentucky.
Connor LaFavre added a singles victory for the Musketeers, defeating Dayton. Brett Winters gave the Musketeers two more singles wins over Dayton and Tennessee Tech.
Tournament play will consist of two flights in both singles and doubles competition. For singles, the main draw will consist of 128 singles players from various schools and Flight B will include 64 players. In doubles play, the main draw will be comprised of 64 teams, while Flight B will be made up of 32 teams.Â
