10.29.19 | Men's Basketball
Musketeers will take on NCAA Division II foe UIndy.
Xavier returns four starters from last year's team that finished 19-16 and made the second round of the NIT, while finishing tied for third in the BIG EAST Conference at 9-9 in Travis Steele's first season as head coach: seniors Quentin Goodin and Tyrique Jones and juniors Naji Marshall and Paul Scruggs. The Musketeers checked in at No. 19 in the preseason Associated Press Poll and No. 21 in the preseason USA Today Sports coaches poll. Xavier's last preseason top 25 ranking in both polls was prior to the 2017-18 season when XU was ranked No. 17 in both polls. XU finished that season with a school-record No. 3 final AP Poll ranking, a school-record No. 8 final USA Today Sports Poll ranking and a No. 1 seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
UIndy is an NCAA Division II team from Indiana. The Greyhounds are playing three games in four days, starting in Chicago on Oct. 29 at Loyola and ending on Nov. 1 at Butler. UIndy finished 19-10 last season.
Opening Night for Xavier is next Tuesday, Nov. 5 vs. Jacksonville at 7 p.m. at Cintas Center.
