Jason Carter Leads Musketeers in 73-51 Victory Over Towson

The Musketeers will play in the semifinals of the Charleston Classic Friday night
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's basketball extended its win streak to five after topping Towson, 73-51, at the Charleston Classic on Thursday night. Four Musketeers finished in double-digit scoring, led by Jason Carter with 13 points. Tyrique Jones and Bryce Moore contributed 12 points each while Jones had a team-high of 12 rebounds. Paul Scruggs also recorded 11 points on the night. The Musketeers advance to the semifinals on Friday night.Â

- Xavier opened the contest going on an 11-5 run over the course of the first four minutes. Tyrique Jones started the run with a dunk and contributed six more points, while hitting two free throws.Â
- After the break, the Musketeers extended the lead 20-11, with a Dahmir Bishop three pointer at the 12-minute mark.Â
- Tyrique Jones and Jason Carter dominated in the paint, combining for 16 points at the half.Â

- Tyrique Jones opened the second half with a one-handed dunk off a no-look pass from Quentin Goodin to extend the Musketeer lead.Â
- Bryce Moore connected for four quick points when he got fouled on the three-point shot, giving Xavier their largest edge thus far of 16 points with 10 minutes remaining.Â
- Xavier went on a 10-7 run over the course of two minutes, with seven points scored by Bryce Moore on two threes and a free throw.Â
- Tyrique Jones found Quentin Goodin beyond the arc to give Xavier its largest lead of the evening, 67-48. Goodin finished the game with four points and three assists.Â
- Xavier ended the game going 7-8 from field goal range, ending the game totaling 47 percent from the field. Â
- The Musketeers finished 71 percent from the line.Â

- Xavier went a season high 7-11 from the three-point line, shooting 63.6 percent.Â

- Xavier finished the game with 10 kills, a season high. The Musketeers held Towson shooting 31 percent from the field and 25 percent beyond the arc.Â
