Samson Sergi Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

The senior forward earned second-team honors
AUSTIN, Texas - Samson Sergi was named to the 2019 Academic All-America® Division I men's soccer team on Thursday afternoon. The senior forward was named to the All-American Second Team.
The Ashburn, Va., native is the first Musketeer to earn the honors since Matt Vasquenza in 2017. Sergi was one of only two BIG EAST players to earn the recognition as Creighton's Connor Ramlo earned All-American Third Team honors.
Sergi earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors after scoring a conference-leading 10 goals this season. Sergi and Georgetown's Jacob Montes were the only two players in the BIG EAST who were unanimous selections.
Sergi finished his career with 29 goals, ranking tied for fourth in program history. He earned All-BIG EAST honors for the second time in as many seasons as he collected second-team honors in 2018.
In the classroom, Sergi holds a 3.67 GPA in graduate school as he works to complete his master's in business administration. He holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from Xavier, completing the program with a 3.84 GPA.
