Ahmeir Kyle and Emily Thomas pick up singles wins over the Spartans
EAST LANSING, Mich.  - In a third match against a Big Ten opponent early in the season, Xavier women's tennis picked up a pair of singles wins, but fell, 5-2, to Michigan State. The Musketeers moved to 2-2 on the season.

Michigan State took the doubles point, winning the No. 2 spot, 6-2, over Sophia Abelson and Kaitlin Ruether, and securing the point in the No. 1 spot, 6-2 over Emily Thomas and Ahmeir Kyle. Rachael Reichenbach and Hunter Roper trailed, 5-2 in the No. 3 spot when the point was decided.

MSU went ahead, 2-0, with a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 6 spot over Kaitlin Ruether, and extended the lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Hunter Roper in the No. 5 spot.

Emily Thomas, in the No. 3 spot, won in two sets, 6-2, 6-3, to get a point back and make the score 3-1.

MSU grabbed the deciding fourth point in the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3), over Sophia Abelson.

In the No. 1 spot, Ahmeir Kyle came back to win back-to-back sets after falling in the first set, finishing with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win to move the score to 4-2.

In the No. 4 spot, Rachael Reichenbach fell in the first set, 7-6, after going 7-5 on tie breakers, and won the second set, 6-4. With the match decided, Reichenbach and MSU's Maja Pietrowicz went to a tie breaker, where Reichenbach fell 10-2.
