CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Xavier baseball fell 14-3 in its weekend finale against No. 7 North Carolina on Sunday at Boshamer Stadium.
The Musketeers fell to 0-3 to start the season, while UNC improved to 3-0.Â
XU played errorless baseball, but walked 16 batters in the game as UNC scored all of its runs on just seven hits. Xavier didn't have trouble reaching base again on Sunday, but could not find the big hit and stranded 31 total runners in the series.

• Xavier returns to action next weekend, traveling to Samford for a three-game set in Birmingham, Ala.
• First pitch is set for Friday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. with game two on Saturday at 3 p.m. and game three on Sunday at 2 p.m.

• Jake Shepski was 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and a walk. Shepski had a productive first weekend with the Musketeers, finishing the series 5-for-10 with a double and three RBI.
• Ryan Fournier got his first start of the season and went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and a run scored.
• Freshman Jack Housinger made his first collegiate start and went 1-for-2 with a run scored, an RBI and a walk.
• Conor Grammes (1-for-4) and Allbry Major (1-for-4) also collected hits for XU.
• XU worked seven walks and collected six hits in the game, but stranded another eight runners in today's contest. The Musketeers stranded 31 total runners in the series.

• Grad transfer Marko Boricich got the start in his XU debut, lasting 1.1 innings and allowing three earned runs.
• Senior Trey Schramm came on in relief, allowing two earned runs and striking out one in 2.2 innings of work.
• Freshman Seth Klaiber made his collegiate debut in the fifth, but did not record an out before exiting.
• Senior Taylor Williams allowed three earned runs in 1.1 innings.
• Freshman Nathan Berg struck out a pair and allowed one run in 1.2 innings.
• Sophomore Griffin Lanoue and senior Sam Czabala combined to finish out the game.

SECOND INNING | Natale Monastra laced a one out single down the right field line, going to second on a walk by Ryan Altenberger. With two on, Ryan Fournier singled to load the bases. Jack Housinger then sent a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing home Monastra.
FIFTH INNING | Ryan Fournier led off with a walk, going to second base on a passed ball. Jack Housinger followed with a single to right. A wild pitch scored Fournier and moved Housinger to third before a walk by Chris Givin put runners on the corners. Jake Shepski batted next and sent a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home Housinger.
