Men's Golf Travels to Arizona for Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Xavier men's golf heads back on to the links this weekend for their first tournament of the spring season. The Musketeers are going to Arizona for the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club. The Musketeers are coming off of a good finish last fall at the Musketeer Classic, where they finished tied for fourth.
Xavier ended the fall ranked sixth in the BIG EAST with an average score of 299.67 over nine rounds.
The Musketeers' top two performers of the fall were Michael Prebles and Trey Rath, who are both freshmen. Their average score is 75.00 and their versus par is 3.33 over each of their nine rounds.
XU will get another look at conference opponents at this tournament with both DePaul and Seton Hall playing.
Rath's top finish was tied for fourth in the Musketeer Classic with a 215 (+2). Prebles' best finish was also the Musketeer Classic, where he carded a 221 (+8) and finished tied for 23rd.
Sophomore Garrett Wood is not far behind the two freshman, he is ranked 30th in the BIG EAST with an average of 75.67 and a versus par of 4.00.
XU will look to continue to improve throughout their tournaments in the spring as they did in all of their fall tournaments.

The men will play 54 holes over the three day event, playing 18 each day.
Saturday and Sunday will commence with split tee start from the first and tenth holes at 9 a.m. Monday will be an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
17 teams are heading into this weekend's tournament, including: Air Force, Alabama Birmingham, Army West Point, Connecticut, DePaul, Elon, Gonzaga, Hartford, Loyola University Maryland, Missouri State, Murray State, Seton Hall, SIU-Edwardsville, South Dakota, Towson, UT-Martin and Xavier
