Women's Tennis Tops ETSU for Sixth-Straight Win

Musketeers close out three-game homestand against Cornell tomorrow at Eastern Hills
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis moved to 8-2 on the season with a sixth-straight win, topping ETSU, 4-3, on Saturday evening at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
In doubles, the Musketeers opened play with a win in the No. 2 spot, 6-1, for Sophia Abelson and Kaitlin Ruether. ETSU responded with wins in the No. 3 spot over Hunter Roper and Rachael Reichenbach, 6-2, and in the No. 1 spot, 6-4, over Ahmeir Kyle and Emily Thomas to take the doubles point.
Xavier got the point back with the first singles win, a two set victory for Kaitlin Ruether, 7-5, 6-0. ETSU reclaimed a 2-1 lead with a come-from-behind win in the No. 1 spot, topping Ahmeir Kyle, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Sophia Abelson, in the No. 2 spot, pulled Xavier back into tie, 2-2 in the No. 2 spot, winning 4-6, 6-1, 7-5. ETSU picked up its final point, moving ahead 3-2, with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over Rachael Reichenbach in the No. 4 singles spot.
Xavier closed out the match with a pair of wins from freshmen, tying the match 3-3 with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win in the No. 5 spot for Hunter Roper, then sealing the win, 4-3, in the No. 3 spot, with Emily Thomas taking the win, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
