Women's Golf Looks for Another Top Finish at Jackrabbit Invitational

BOULDER CREEK, Nev. - After wining the Rio Verde Invitational, Xavier women's golf is heading back west to compete in the Jackrabbit Invitational on March 10-11.

XU is coming off its second tournament victory of the 2018-19 season, where three golfers landed in the top-10 individually. The performances of Mikayla Fitzpatrick and Lyndsey Hunnell landed them the honor of Co-BIG EAST Women's Golfer of the Week. Hunnell and Fitzpatrick both shot a 146 (+4) and tied for fourth overall. Fitzpatrick continues to hold her number one ranking in the conference with a average score of 72.94 and a versus par of 1.41.

The Musketeers boast three golfers ranked in the top ten in the BIG EAST as well with Fitzpatrick atop the league, Hunnell ranked fourth, and Mikayla Smith ranked seventh.

XU brings all nine golfers with them on the road trip west. The same five from the Rio Verde Invitational will compete as a team in the Jackrabbit Invitational. The four Xavier golfers competing as individuals are: Morgan Tinsley, Ke'Asha Phillips, Kayla Benge, and Abby Kiefer.

Xavier finds themselves on top of the BIG EAST with an average score of 297.71 and a versus par of 11.59. They also lead the conference with two tournament victories, while three other teams have one victory.

FORMAT

Xavier will play 54 holes in the tournament. They will play 36 on Monday and finish out the final 18 on Tuesday.

PARTICIPATING TEAMS

There are 13 teams competing in the tournament this weekend: CSU Bakersfield, CSU Northridge, High Point, UMKC, Missouri State, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Oklahoma City (NAIA), Rocky Mountain (NAIA), Xavier, Wichita State and South Dakota State.
